Inner Mongolia Kunming Cigarette Co., Ltd., committed to innovation and product quality, recently completed a major HVAC modernization project in its production facility. To maintain strict temperature and humidity conditions required in tobacco processing—especially in cut tobacco storage and manufacturing areas—the company launched a turnkey retrofit program to replace outdated air handling systems. Holtop secured the contract by offering advanced climate control technology and deep industry expertise, delivering a full-scope solution encompassing design, equipment supply, installation, and commissioning—all within a tight production break.
Tobacco production is highly sensitive to ambient conditions. The factory’s previous HVAC equipment could no longer provide steady temperature and humidity, leading to product inconsistencies. Communication delays and system failures further resulted in unplanned downtime. The client needed a high-precision constant temperature and humidity system capable of sustaining strict environmental parameters, alongside digital monitoring to enable real-time data transmission and long-term operational stability under continuous production loads.
Holtop engineered and deployed five precision air handling units—one with 100,000 m³/h capacity and four at 60,000 m³/h—integrated with a high-accuracy ring-control network. Key system features include:
Using the HJK50U series of custom air handling units, the system ensures uniform airflow and stable conditions across large, densely equipped workshops. Enhanced air distribution and balanced pressure control enable consistent temperature and humidity levels even under continuous high-load operation, directly improving tobacco moisture consistency and product uniformity.
In cut tobacco storage areas, minor fluctuations can affect moisture content and flavor. Holtop’s PLC-based control system, enhanced with intelligent PID logic, maintains temperature within ±0.5°C and relative humidity within ±2%. This ensures tobacco remains within optimal moisture ranges, significantly improving end-product quality.
To withstand tobacco-specific corrosive agents such as nicotine, acetic acid, and glycerin, all unit components—from the casing and internals to the fan, motor, filters, coils, and dampers—were built using anti-corrosion materials and specialized coatings. This design extends equipment service life and reduces maintenance costs in challenging industrial environments.
The control system adopts modular redundancy and offers comprehensive fault diagnosis across all levels—from sensors to controllers. Multi-path ring-network architecture ensures uninterrupted data communication with the building management system, minimizing downtime and supporting the factory’s digital transformation.
Despite an extremely short installation window between production cycles, Holtop completed the replacement on schedule and achieved successful single-pass commissioning. The system now delivers reliable, precise performance, meeting all environmental standards for tobacco storage and manufacturing. Through this project, Holtop has reinforced its position as a trusted partner in industrial HVAC solutions—enabling green, smart, and digital upgrades for process-critical industries worldwide.
