Rooftop-integrated water-cooled DX air handling units support ±2°C / ±10% RH control, tropical corrosion resistance and remote O&M for AI/HPC infrastructure.

RAYONG, Thailand — HOLTOP has deployed its water-cooled direct expansion (DX) air handling solution at the Zhonglian Thailand Rayong Data Center, a planned 203 MW AI and computing campus in Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
The project is invested and operated by Stratus Technology, a subsidiary of China Zhonglian Data Group. It supports general IDC colocation, cloud hosting, AI large-model and HPC workloads, and cross-border enterprise/government line transit.
For AI and high-density racks, the facility requires continuous heat removal and room-level control within ±2°C and ±10% RH. It also requires 7*24 high-load energy efficiency and remote operation and maintenance (O&M) to reduce overseas site costs.

HOLTOP’s solution uses rooftop-integrated water-cooled DX air handling units (AHUs). The design eliminates a dedicated indoor AHU room, applies rain and corrosion protection for tropical storms and coastal salt spray, and requires only ductwork connection before commissioning.
Precision control is achieved through high-precision sensors and intelligent control algorithms that respond to load changes and help avoid local hot spots and temperature/humidity fluctuations.
For air quality, the units provide pre-treated fresh air and chemical filtration for sulfur- and nitrogen-based compounds. Treated air meets the ISA S71.04 G1 severity level for gas-phase corrosion.

The water-cooled heat rejection architecture is less affected by outdoor dry-bulb temperature than air-cooled systems, supporting stable condensing conditions and efficient operation in Thailand’s hot climate. This helps reduce system Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) under 7*24 high-load operation.
The smart management system collects operating status, control parameters and energy data, and supports remote monitoring, alarm notifications, multi-unit cluster control and automatic logs. This reduces on-site inspections and simplifies troubleshooting for overseas teams.
The project validates HOLTOP’s delivery capability for high-precision, energy-efficient HVAC in tropical, high-humidity AI data centers.
